Overview: The discuss module now supports new settings aimed at streamlining internal communications, particularly for announcements and controlled access.
Updates:
1. Read-Only Announcement Channels:
A setting has been added to create read-only channels specifically for announcements, ensuring important messages are not cluttered by responses.
2. Automatic Channel Owner Permissions:
Channel owners are automatically added to the list of allowed users, ensuring they can manage the channel effectively.
Benefits:
- Improved Communication Control: Read-only channels ensure that announcements remain focused and uncluttered.
How it works ?
- Click on Discuss App from Social Cloud
- Then, create a new channel or edit an existing one. In this scenario, I will edit the General Channel by clicking channel name.
Warning: For a user to be able to view the Privacy tab, they must be either superuser or one of the owners of that channel. In other words, if a user is require to make privacy settings for a channel, it is necessary to add them as owner via Owners field.
-Then, in the “Who can send messages?” field in the privacy tab, you can make sure that no one can write messages to this channel except the users you add to the Allowed Users field that opens when you click the Selected User option.
- No one will be able to write for the General channel except Andrew Taylor and Elizabeth Keen. However, only Andrew Taylor or the superuser will be able to set the channel's privacy settings.
